Tattoo aftercare instructions card
Pick how you cover the tattoo and how often clients should wash it. You get a short, printable aftercare card with your studio name on it.

Caring for your new tattoo
- Leave the clear film on for 3 days. Some ink and fluid under it is normal. If it leaks or lifts at the edges, take it off early.
- To remove it, peel it back slowly under warm running water, pulling along the skin, not up.
- Wash it 2 times a day with clean hands, lukewarm water, and unscented soap. Pat dry with a clean paper towel.
- Once dry, apply a thin layer of unscented lotion. Too much keeps it wet and slows healing.
- Some redness, swelling, and flaking is normal. Let the flakes fall off on their own. Do not pick or scratch.
- For 2 to 3 weeks: no swimming, baths, hot tubs, or saunas. Short showers are fine.
- Keep it out of the sun while it heals. After that, sunscreen keeps it sharp.
- Wear loose, clean clothing over it.
- Pain that gets worse, heat, pus, red streaks, or a fever are not normal. See a doctor.

How long should a tattoo film stay on?
Many artists say 3 to 5 days, taking it off early if it leaks or lifts. Go with what your artist tells you, since it depends on the film and the work.
What should aftercare instructions cover?
When to take the covering off, how to wash, what to put on it, what healing normally looks like, what to avoid for the first weeks, and the signs that mean see a doctor.
Is this medical advice?
No. It is the general aftercare most artists give. Your own method comes first. If it looks infected, the client should see a doctor.
