Tattoo touch-up policy, and how to book them

What most touch-up policies cover

• A free window. Usually a few months after the session, once it's fully healed.
• The healed photo comes first, so you can tell if it's your line work or their aftercare.
• What isn't covered. Sun damage, picking, skipped aftercare, and areas known for fading, like fingers, hands, and feet.
• What happens after the free window. A small fee, or your minimum.

Say it before they need it

Put the touch-up policy in the aftercare message, not the reply to a complaint. If someone learns the rule on the day they get tattooed, it's a policy. If they learn it after they're unhappy, it feels like an excuse. The aftercare guide covers when that message goes out.

Look at the healed photo first

A healed photo in good light tells you most of what you need. A patchy line in one spot is usually yours to fix. Fading across the whole piece a month later usually has a cause, and it's fair to ask about sun and aftercare before you book anything.

Either way, answer kindly. A client who feels blamed won't come back, even when they were the one who went to the beach.

How it works on Studio Haven

Clients request a touch-up from their portal and can attach up to five healed photos. You get an email with the photos. If it's covered, send them a touch-up booking link from your admin. The request never books itself, so you always get a look first.
