Questions artists ask
How do tattoo artists price their work?
Most use an hourly rate for customs and larger pieces, a set price for flash, and a shop minimum so small tattoos still cover setup and cleanup. Some charge drawing time separately for big custom work.
Why send a range instead of one number?
Sessions run long or short depending on skin, placement, and breaks. A range sets expectations and saves an awkward conversation at the end.
How big should the deposit be?
Many artists ask for 20 to 30 percent on customs, or at least enough to cover drawing time. The deposit guide goes through how to pick yours.
