Does a tattoo artist need a website?
You need somewhere people can find you, see your work, and book, and it can't vanish if an app changes the rules. That doesn't have to be a separate website you pay a designer for.
What people look for
Someone hears your name from a friend or sees a piece on someone's arm. They search you. They want four things fast: your work, whether it heals well, what they can book, and how to book. Anything that doesn't answer those is just decoration.
- Your work, recent and in your current style
- Healed photos, not only fresh ones
- Flash that's actually available
- How to book, your deposit, and your policy
- Where you are
Your booking page can be the site
A separate website means one more thing to keep updated. It goes stale while your booking page stays current. If the booking page already shows your work, healed pieces, flash, and policy, it is the website.
On Studio Haven, that page is studiohaven.net/s/your-name. You can connect your own domain too, so it shows your name and not ours. There's a blog built in if you want to write about new flash or guest spots, and clients can leave reviews.
Keep it current
An out-of-date page is worse than a short one. If the newest piece is from two years ago, or the flash on it sold out in spring, people assume you've stopped taking work. Add a couple of healed photos every month and take sold flash down as it goes. Ten minutes a month keeps it looking alive.
Getting found
Use your real name and city on the page. Search engines match people searching "tattoo artist in [city]" to pages that say so. Put the same link in your Instagram bio and your Google business profile so everything points to one place. The Instagram booking guide goes into the bio side.
See it from the client side
Open the demo studio and book it the way a client would, deposit and all. You don't need an account. When you're ready, set up your own page.

Questions artists ask
Is Instagram enough?
It's good for being found and bad for being booked. And you don't own it. Have a page of your own too, even if Instagram brings in most of the traffic.
Do I need my own domain?
You don't need one, but it helps. It's easier to say out loud and it stays yours. You can add it later without changing anything else.
What should the page be called?
Your artist name, or the shop name if you tattoo under it, plus the city. That's usually what people type in.
