Calendly alternative for illustrators
Calendly is a capable product, but it was not designed around commission work. Here is where that shows, and what a commission-first platform does differently.
Where Calendly falls short
Commission work is a negotiation, not a time slot. You need to quote scope, take a deposit, agree a revision count, and deliver files. Calendar tools model none of that, so the work happens in DMs and invoices.
Calendly sells a time slot. Commission work needs scope agreed, a revision count, a deposit, and file delivery, none of which a scheduling link can express.
Studio Haven vs Calendly at a glance
- Commission inquiries with an approve-then-quote flow instead of instant booking
- Revision limits agreed up front and tracked against the project
- Deposit on acceptance through Stripe Connect, balance on delivery
- Portfolio pages that sell the work rather than a booking link
- File delivery to the client portal when the piece is finished
- Custom quotes for scope that does not fit a fixed price
What Calendly does well
Calendly is the best link-in-bio scheduler there is, and for consultations or free intro calls it is hard to beat. Plenty of artists keep it for exactly that and run paid work elsewhere.
The point of this page is not that Calendly is a bad product. It is that it was built for a different job than commission work, and the gap shows up in the parts of the week that cost you the most time.
What switching actually involves
There is nothing to migrate from Calendly beyond the link itself, because it never held your client history. Swap the link in your bio and pin the new storefront, and you are done in an afternoon.
What it costs
Studio Haven is free for the artist. There is no monthly subscription and no card required to start. Clients pay a small fee at checkout, and deposits settle directly into your own Stripe account rather than sitting with a platform. The full breakdown is on the pricing page.
Try it before you move anything
Open the live demo studio and book against it as a client, deposit included, without creating an account. When it looks right, start free and move your work across at your own pace. More comparisons are in the guides index.
Switch without the monthly bill
Free forever for artists. Built for illustrators, with deposits, portfolio tools, and your own storefront.
