Marketplace apps will send you people. They also put you in a row with everyone charging less, and they would rather those people never leave the app.
The deal you make with a marketplace
Booksy and Vagaro are good at one thing: putting a stranger in a chair. You pay to be in the directory. They optimize for salon volume: lashes, blowouts, barber slots. Tattoo work is a worse fit than the ads suggest. Flash is not a menu item. A custom is not a 45-minute service. A sleeve is not a recurring blowout.
The quieter problem is ownership. The client found you inside their app. The app would like to keep them there. When you want your own URL, your own payouts, and a list that still works if you cancel, you feel the lease.
What you get on a page you own
Studio Haven is not a directory. It is your booking page. People come from Instagram, a Google search, a friend, a guest-spot flyer. They are not browsing you next to three other artists who copied your style. Deposits go to your Stripe or Square. The client list stays with you.

Leaving without ghosting your regulars
Some people only know you as a Booksy listing. That is the awkward part. Export what you can. Send a normal email: here is my page, here is how you book me now, Booksy still works for a bit if you need it. Run both until the repeats show up on your link. Then stop paying rent on the old one.

Questions people ask before they switch
Is Booksy useless if I am new?
No. If you need strangers more than you need a brand, marketplace traffic is real. The trade shows up later, when regulars only know you inside the app and you want a page that is yours.
What about Vagaro?
Same family of problem. Salon volume, salon services, a directory you rent. Fine for some shops. A poor fit if your work is flash, customs, and a name people search.
How do I not lose people when I leave?
Export the list. Email them your own link. Run both for a cycle. Anyone who only ever opened Booksy needs to hear from you once, in a human sentence, not a blast from a new platform.
